Central Command Area of Responsibility (Feb. 24, 2003) - The amphibious dock landing ship USS Anchorage (LSD 36) recovers a Landing Craft, Air Cushion (LCAC) to prepare for another load of equipment and Marines, assigned to 1st Marine Expeditionary Battalion (1 MEB), for a trip to shore. Anchorage is one of seven San Diego, Calif.-based ships that have deployed in support of future operations in the Central Command Area of Responsibility.
