June 15, 1996 -- A Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC) rides a cushion of air over the sand at Kauai, Hawaii, as it comes ashore as part of an amphibious landing during RIMPAC Ô96. The amphibious landing at Pacific Missile Range Facility, Barking Sands, was conducted by 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit from Camp Pendleton, California, and involved Navy and Marine air, ground and sea forces for training as a combined amphibious assault force.  U.S. Navy photo by PhotographerÕs Mate Second Class (NAC) Jeffrey S.
