HAT YAO BEACH, Thailand – A Royal Thai Navy Super Puma helicopter prepares to land on Hat Yao Beach, Thailand May 28 during the combined amphibious landing force exercise (CALFEX) May 28, as part of Cobra Gold 2002.  U.S. Navy Landing Craft Air Cushion 61 and 56, along with Royal Thai Marine Corps Amphibious Assault Vehicles landing on the beach earlier.  The CALFEX was the highlight of 14 days of training between the U.S. and Royal Thai Navies and Marine Corps, which all started May 14.  Cobra Gold is a joint/combined exercise and is the latest in a continuing series of U.S.-Thai military exercises designed to ensure regional peace and strengthen the ability of the Royal Thai armed forces to respond to regional contingencies.  Official U.S. Navy Photograph by: Journalist 3rd Class Wes Eplen
