Central Command Area of Responsibility (Feb. 24, 2003) - A Landing
Craft, Air Cushion (LCAC) closes-in to its return station, the
amphibious transport dock USS Cleveland (LPD 7). An LCAC is a
high-speed, ship-to-shore and over-the-beach landing craft that can
transport equipment, personnel and weapons systems from amphibious
ships located beyond the horizon. The San Diego based ship Cleveland
has deployed in support of future operations in the Central Command
