SAMEASAN, Thailand – A landing craft, air cushion comes ashore to
offload cargo and personnel from the USS Harpers Ferry (LSD 43) here
May 15 in support of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit’s
(Special Operations Capable) participation in Exercise Cobra Gold 2006.
This exercise is a regularly scheduled combined multi-national exercise
and is the latest in the continuing series of U.S.-Thai military
exercises designed to ensure regional peace and strengthen the ability
of the Royal Thai Armed Forces to defend Thailand or respond to
regional contingencies.
