Mersing, Malaysia (July 20, 2004) - Landing force members of the Royal Malay Regiment (RMR) hit the beach running from a U.S. Navy Landing Craft Air Cushioned (LCAC) during an amphibious assault as part of the Malaysia phase of exercise Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT).  Two Assault Craft Unit (ACU) 5 detachment Western Pacific LCACs, currently assigned to the amphibious dock landing ship USS Fort McHenry (LSD 43), transported 150 RMR landing force troops during the exercise event. CARAT is a regularly scheduled series of bilateral training exercises with several Southeast Asia nations designed to enhance the interoperability of the respective sea services.
