Had Yao Beach, Thailand (June 24, 2005) - Royal Thai Marines assault Had Yao Beach after disembarking from a U.S. Navy Landing Craft, Air Cushion (LCAC) during an amphibious raid rehearsal. The rehearsal was in preparation for a combined air and land assault event, the centerpiece of exercise Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) Thailand 2005. Assault Craft Unit Five (ACU-5), Detachment Western Pacific Alfa, provided LCAC-73 for the exercise. ACU 5's LCAC-81 along with LCAC-73 are currently embarked USS Fort McHenry (LSD 43). CARAT is a regularly scheduled series of bilateral military training exercises with several Southeast Asia nations designed to enhance the interoperability of the respective sea services.
