Biloxi, Miss. (Sept. 6, 2005) -- A U.S. Marines Corps front-end loader is driven off a U.S. Navy Landing Craft, Air Cushion (LCAC) onto a beach near Biloxi, Miss. The Marines are using multipurpose utility trucks, forklifts and front-end loaders to clean Hurricane Katrina debris out of the Biloxi streets. The LCAC is assigned to Assault Craft Unit Four (ACU-4), currently embarked aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5). The Navy and Marine Corps's involvement in the Hurricane Katrina humanitarian assistance operations is led by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), in conjunction with the Department of Defense.
