Jolo, Philippines (March 3, 2006) -- Marines assigned to the 31st
Marine Service Support Group (MSSG) load equipment on a Landing Craft,
Air Cushion (LCAC) on the island of Jolo, before heading out toward the
amphibious dock landing ship USS Harpers Ferry (LSD 49). The joint
efforts of more than 500 AFP and U.S. medical, dental, engineer and
protection personnel were able to bring medical and dental support to
more than 11,000 Filipino people and 504 animals, along with building
four elementary schools. Harpers Ferry and Elements of the 31st Marine
Expeditionary Unit (MEU) are participating in Balikatan 2006, an annual
bilateral combined Republic of the Philippines and U.S. military
