PERSIAN GULF (May 26, 2007) -- The Nimitz class aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) transit the Persian Gulf prior to conducting flight operations. The John C. Stennis Carrier Strike Group is on deployment in support of Maritime Operations. Maritime Operations help set the conditions for security and stability in the maritime environment, as well as complement the counter-terrorism and security efforts of regional nations.
