GULF OF OMAN (Oct. 13, 2008) -- An F/A-18 Hornet makes its final approach to the flight deck prior to making an arrested landing on the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). Ronald Reagan and Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 14 are providing support to coalition forces on the ground in Afghanistan. Coalition forces, composed of more than 52,000 personnel from 40 countries, are providing assistance to the government of Afghanistan, as part of International Security Assistance Force (ISAF,) and working to defeat violent extremists who operate there. Ronald Reagan is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility, focused on reassuring regional partners of the United States' commitment to security, which promotes stability and global prosperity. U.S. Navy photo by Mass Communication Specialist 2nd Class Joseph M.
